Taking care of yourself is also taking care of your environment.

Spring is coming, …

The days are longer, we have more light, the temperature slowly starts to rise and we come to a period where we try to organize our house for the lighter period ahead.

Some people are keen in making big spring house cleanings, some people use this period to start new activities because this is a moment where we also feel our routines shift.

I normally don’t do a huge spring cleanup but I notice I change various things in my house and I have the urge to change things during this period of the year.

Are you a Spring cleaning supporter? Do you want to start?

I have gathered a couple of tips to have in mind if you decide to reorganize and do your house a bit more in depth:

- Start from top to bottom; this will avoid that you need to re-clean or re-dusk what you already cleaned;

- Get rid of old papers; this helps organizing the ones you still need and avoids extra dust;

- Make a checklist of cleaning products you will need; this saves time and avoids buying too much;

- Clean room by room, that will keep your tasks manageable;

- Take out clothes which you only use in the winter and store them apart. This helps you have a clearer overview of what you have and what you eventually need to buy for the new season. It’s also a good opportunity to take out clothes that you haven’t worn for more than a year and donate to charity.

- Clean out your food storage cabinet, fridge and freezer and remove eventual old and over the datum articles.

- Rent a cleaning machine for eventual carpet and curtains cleaning; it saves a lot of money compared to buying one;

These are just a few of the possibilities when trying to do a deeper and more structured cleanup.

I normally take this period to change pillows and decoration items to lighter colors than what I use in the winter, it gives more light to the house and a fresher feeling.

Remember, …. having a simplified, clean and organized home is also a form of self-care…
