Are you a people pleaser?

Throughout our lives there is always that moment where we end up doing something we don’t feel like to make or keep someone happy.
In all grades and sizes, from connecting with family we don’t feel a link to, taking a certain study to please parents, to signing up that project at work that we actually don’t really agree with, or the social FOMO and need to be everywhere at all times even when we would prefer to crash on the couch, we all have been through it one time or the other.
Even though these situations can happen out of choice, some people actually are real people pleasers.
A people pleaser is someone who always tries to make and keep others happy.
Being a people pleaser can be demanding and unhealthy.
It will drain you and you can loose your own will and identity in this process.
Whilst we actually sometimes fall in such situations, for the people who do it regularly, here are a couple of tips to “step out” of this circle:
· Take time to connect to yourself; by listening to your body and feeling what you want makes it easier to choose what really makes you happy
· Don’t be afraid to say no; it can be hard but saying no doesn’t make you a bad person, it actually protects yourself and your own boundaries
· Follow your values and intuition; most of the cases they know the way even when you tend to choose something else;
· Set your boundaries; by creating limits you protect yourself and you also teach others to respect your space; see it as pure self-care!
· Don’t hang in your past; hanging in the past tends to bring negative feelings and emotions which compromise your present and even future choices
· Make yourself a priority; by doing this you will choose more of what makes you happy. This is not always easy but it’s always worth it
I hope this is food for thought and actually can help someone breaking these circles, bring you closer to your true self and acceptance of your own value.
If you are not sure of how to do it, or you need help in this process, send me a message and we can work it together.
As I said, it’s not always easy but accepting yourself, and working towards a happier and healthier you will always be worth it!!
