Great ways to detox your mind

We all know we need it, we all feel it as being important, yet, it is hard to give into that moment of unwinding, to slow down the pace and take some time to give our brain a rest.
In the business of daily life, if we don't take a moment to unwind, and if we don't do this structurally we end up sooner or later suffering from symptoms like fatigue, lack of concentration, poor sleep, bad food choices, just to name a few,... so what can we do to avoid it??
To begin with,... start small,... small steps lead to big successes, don't try to become the "yogi of the week"or the "master of zen" in two or three days, not only it's not real as it will simply create unnecessary frustration....
There are various small steps which you can incorporate to your self-care in order to make it achievable and durable:
- Put aside your screens at least about half an hour before going to sleep; start with 10 minutes each day an try to build up. This reduces stress and anxiety. Also unplugging from technology is like a reboot for your brain allowing you to actually live in the "now".
- Don't engage in late evening discussions, live, per telephone or online; even though discussions can be healthy, it will take some time for your body to relax again after having one.
- Read; Reading daily is known for numerous benefits like aiding in sleep readiness and reducing stress.
- Embrace movement; Choose what suits you better, from a walk in the park, to yoga, cycling, running, dancing, it's your call, as long as you do it with pleasure! Just 30 minutes of movement per day will boost your mood, will help reduce stress and also make you sleep better,.
- Practice meditation; choose the best moment, and start small, 5-7 minutes of guided meditations will do wonders when practiced regularly. You can do it to start the day, or to close it off before sleeping.
- Be grateful; Acknowledging and being thankful can reduce depression, lower blood pressure, increase energy and happiness - this is essential to a relaxed and healthy mind!
As I mentioned in the beginning, start small, this is pure guidance, choose what suits you and I am positive that even by choosing one or two of these steps it will lead you to a more relaxed and detoxed mind, and who knows, it will help you choose further steps and invest even more on your well being an overall wellness!
